This project was the realization of my skills in horror writing and twisting samples into creepy noises.
My first foray into the horror genre started around 2014 when I began watching creepy games on YouTube. This trend would continue to today and would passively affect my imagination and the way I write music.
Around the time of composing this, I had written “Parasomnia” for a class and realized that raw samples that just cut off with no reverb is creepy.
This project would be the culmination of the skills I learned in “Forgotten Places” using a cut open soda can and a violin bow to make the screechy noise throughout the trailer.
Using the creepy version of “You are my sunshine,” was not original, as the original trailer did the same. I saw this project as if the directors gave me instruction to implement a nursery rhyme such as that song, which is how I justified just reusing it.
